1. Definitions
Since the dawn of time, humans have always sought to protect themselves. The primary objective was to cope with an often hostile environment, given that their habitats were either natural or rudimentarily constructed using materials that were unprocessed or minimally processed. Initially, buildings were easily dismantled according to basic subsistence needs, but construction finally underwent its first revolution when agriculture and animal husbandry enabled humans to settle down.
Thus began the great history of construction. From then on, technical and technological developments very quickly enabled the exploitation of natural resources available to mankind and contributed to the transformation of construction methods over the centuries.
Nowadays, needs haven't changed that much. Protecting oneself from rain, cold, and wind remains essential...
