6. The secondary framework
The secondary framing is an essential component in the construction of cladding and siding. It allows the outer skin of the building to be attached to the supporting structure.
The secondary framework consists of wooden rafters or metal studs arranged vertically, in other words a simple grid framework. These studs can be fixed directly to the supporting structure or, more often, using fixing brackets. Thanks in particular to their oblong pre-drilled holes, they make it possible to compensate for tolerances and irregularities in the load-bearing structure in order to obtain a flat surface for the cladding.
