2. Curbs and pavers

  • Road construction products such as curbs and paving stones are generally manufactured using processes (immediate demolding and curing on boards) and machines such as vibrating presses, which are very similar to those used for concrete blocks.

    However, in order to meet the specific requirements of road products in terms of appearance, mechanical strength, and durability, the production conditions have certain particularities:

    • The concrete used has a higher cement content (14 to 18% on average) and is more plastic (water content of fresh concrete 6 to 7%). Compaction is more thorough (low porosity) through the use of more powerful and longer vibrations (4 to 8 seconds instead of 1 to 3 seconds for blocks).
