6. Hazardous waste treatment
"Hazardous waste" is defined in Article R.541-8 of the Environmental Code.
In order to determine whether waste is hazardous, the first step is to assign it a code from the single list of wastes defined in Article R.541-7 of the Environmental Code and set out in the Annex to Commission Decision 2000/532/EC of May 3, 2000.
Hazardous waste and all items that come into direct contact with hazardous materials must be stored packaged, separated from each other, in leak-proof containers to avoid any risk of dangerous chemical reactions.
For the disposal of hazardous construction waste, the project owner or contractor must use a specialized and approved company that is part of the ICPE (classified facilities for environmental protection). However, it is important to note that these companies can only dispose of waste after...
