 INTRODUCTION

For fire regulations concerning high-rise buildings (IGH) and very-high-rise buildings (ITGH), the legislator has laid down additional provisions for the various classes of activity defined in the fire safety regulations for public buildings (ERP) of June 25 1980, including those covering general provisions [TBA 3 050] (articles GH 1 to GH 5) and construction rules [TBA 3 051] (articles GH 6 to GH 56).

This technical instruction, specific to high-rise buildings, deals with smoke extraction. It defines smoke extraction methods to enable occupants to evacuate compartments or premises quickly and safely in the event of fire.

It specifies the characteristics of the equipment to be used and its positioning in the building, as well as the operating and installation conditions for extract and supply fans.

The basic characteristics of the system are given to ensure constant, balanced flow rates between smoke extraction and air supply to horizontal corridors.
