2. Risks when working from scaffolding

2.1 Statistics

Erecting, dismantling and working on scaffolding is not a risk-free situation.

It can be estimated that fatal accidents in the building industry break down roughly as follows:

  • Approximately 50% from insufficiently protected floors;

  • 12% due to scaffolding overturning;

  • approx. 12% during assembly or disassembly;

  • Approx. 10% due to component failure;

  • Approx. 10% when accessing or leaving the scaffolding;

  • 6% when moving scaffolding.
