Protection chain
Assembly comprising measurement sensors, relays, command processing circuits, and performing a given protection function.
Trigger
Open a switchgear or de-energize an alternator and disconnect it from the associated network.
Internal/external fault
A fault of internal origin in an alternator or motor is a fault whose source is damage to a machine component. An external fault is a fault whose source is outside the machine, but whose consequences can lead to damage within it.
Digital system
System made up of programmed digital equipment, enabling various protection functions to be carried out, as well as complementary functions such as communication with other control equipment and with the operator....
