To operate, plasma torches need five auxiliary devices.

6.1.1 Direct current

To stabilize the arc, whose voltage ( U ) – current (I) characteristic is generally decreasing (d U/dI < 0), and all the more so as the current is low, torches are supplied with direct current by a current source that keeps the current constant whatever the voltage and its variations.
