INTRODUCTION
Since the end of the 80s, the construction of overhead power transmission lines has become increasingly difficult. Among the arguments put forward by opponents, the difficulty of integrating these lines into the landscape, and the resulting loss of amenity or property value, figure prominently.
Despite the progress made over the years in terms of environmental considerations and impact studies, it seemed necessary to use increasingly effective tools. The aim is to simulate the impact of the structures in their environment, then to test several variants in order to help make the final choice of route, in consultation with partners outside EDF.
As they are implemented, these tools will enable better dialogue with local elected representatives and government departments at every stage of the construction process.
