3. Industrial framework for minigrid construction
The local industrial environment can constrain or influence technical choices regarding the size and management of the mini-grid. As the networks built and operated are often located in areas far from traditional industrial centers, the availability of local resources and maintenance issues must be carefully considered:
if the network is ultimately to be taken over by a local operator, the equipment used must be chosen from ranges already in use locally in order to avoid issues relating to training or the procurement of spare parts. The network must take into account local operating modes, as well as the network code, if one exists;
Requirements may be imposed to use locally produced materials as part of the operating permit granted.
