Overview

ABSTRACT

This article studies an innovative digital circuit operating with negative group delay (NGD) infinite impulse response (IIR). This extraordinary and unfamiliar circuit can be outstandingly identified with possibility to generate output signals ahead of the corresponding inputs. The NGD digital circuit theory, operation principle and design methodology are established by means of frequency-time diagram and verified by both simulation and experiment. Various arbitrary waveform pulse signals with few ms duration are originally tested with NGD IIR circuit prototype implemented on STM32® microcontroller. Potential applications such as delay suppression and pre-detection of faults are introduced.

 INTRODUCTION

To meet the needs of our society, modern electronic engineering is constantly developing, overcoming various technological barriers. Engineers' success in meeting this challenge is essentially based on the design and development of new, increasingly innovative electronic devices. As a result, the electronic circuit and device design industries are constantly evolving towards different types of analog, electronic and mixed technologies. Within this development framework, remarkable progress has been made with innovation in cutting-edge digital electronics technology [E 2 455][E 2 480][E 3 160][E 3 162] .

Behind today's industrial progress, specifically original electronic functions are needed to develop innovations that meet society's expectations. The performance of [E 3 565] processors and [H 1 196] reconfigurable Digital Circuits (NCs) is a key factor in this evolution. The efficiency of industrial applications of NCs for monitoring, control, diagnostics, fault location and characterization systems, and also for correcting the latencies of sensor networks
