1.1 Definitions

Filtering, which consists in isolating a frequency band from a complex signal, is one of the most widely used functions in electronic assemblies. However, the construction of electrical filters often poses problems that are difficult to solve: cost, size, power consumption, performance stability, noise, and so on. Many different technologies are used in practice, depending on the frequency range concerned and the parameters to be optimized as a priority. There are two main filter families: digital and analog.

Among analog filters, passive filters are almost always made up of high-quality inductors and capacitors, inserted between two resistors. These LC filters are currently mainly used at high and very high frequencies, or for high power ratings....
