7. Electrical terminal
The electrical terminal is a conductor connecting the substrate metallizations to the outside of the housing (power and/or control signals) or to other metallized substrates. It is usually soldered to the metallization of the ceramic substrate. To avoid soldering, a major failure factor, ceramic substrate suppliers have developed terminals formed by extending the metallization (figure 22 ). Another technological solution is to transfer the external connectors to the housing. In this case, the electrical connections between the external connectors and the metallization of the ceramic substrate are made by wiring wires.
