9.1 Context

Traditional corporate storage needs involve complicated storage infrastructures that are expensive (purchase/rental and operation) and require highly-trained staff. Cloud Storage service providers offer an attractive alternative to the storage currently provided in data centers. Although the market for Cloud Storage services is still in its infancy, it represents a tangible shift away from in-house storage infrastructures (DAS, SAN and NAS). Cloud Storage aims to capture a share of the outsourced storage market. Outsourcing brings simplification, agility and lower costs to IT organizations.
