7. Execution models

Replicating resources and arranging them is not enough to make a parallel architecture work. The whole must be controlled according to an execution model. The execution model is also an intermediary representation between the program expressed by the user in a programming language and the programs that will run on the processing units.

There are several execution models, three of which have been or are being used in particular: the multi-sequential model, the dataflow model
