3. An example of implementation: MQSeries

MQSeries is an IBM product family that has been developing since 1993. This product range has met with great success, as it offers a response to needs that arose following the development of client/server and distributed systems. In fact, MQSeries is available on some twenty operating systems, ranging from IBM systems (MVS, VSE, OS/400, OS/2, AIX) to non-IBM systems such as Windows/NT, HP UX, SUN Solaris, DEC, Tandem, GIS Atlantis, etc. The most complete of these in terms of performance and functionality is the product running on MVS/ESA.

Its strengths include the provision of a common programming interface (API), a high level of functionality, message integrity, performance, etc.

The MQSeries family is built around the notion of a message manager, which is nothing other than a resource manager responsible for managing queues and their messages...
