4. Application examples
To illustrate the above theoretical statements, we present here some applications that are operational today (or in the process of being implemented), based on inter-application message handlers. They represent typical examples of what can be developed based on message-mode communication and processing. This list is by no means exhaustive.
4.1 Distribution applications
The most typical example concerns replenishment orders for stores or distributors. The order (urgent or not) is sent as a message to a warehouse server. The message is processed as soon as it arrives. A reply is sent to the store indicating whether or not the requested product is in stock.
