Case-based reasoning (RàPC)

Case-based reasoning (CBR) is a way of thinking about problem solving that builds on past experience to solve new problems. The general principle is that "similar problems have similar solutions".

The case is the central notion of an RàPC: it describes a contextualized past experience representing a problem-solving episode. A case therefore consists of a problem description (an element of the Problem space), its associated solution (an element of the Solution space) (a binary relationship between the two spaces), and possibly a third part containing additional information.
