5. Conclusion

When it comes to technological innovation, one question quickly arises: what methods are available to support and accelerate the proposal of innovative ideas? TRIZ theory, with its strong focus on technology, is one of the most appropriate methods for supporting the generation of inventive concepts in preliminary design. Based on trans-disciplinary knowledge, it provides a framework for sharing and exchanging views on the problem situation between the various business experts. Despite being the source of many industrial innovations, this theory has several limitations that hamper the generation of concrete solutions. Under these conditions, TRIZ methods and tools are necessary but not sufficient. They need to be integrated with other approaches to build an inventive design support method.
