5.1 Paints electroplated by the action of an electric field (oven drying)
The industrial development of electrophoretic paints began in the 1980s for three main reasons:
increase the corrosion resistance of metallic materials by making it easier to paint hollow bodies;
increased productivity ;
improved working conditions thanks to the elimination of solvent vapours during application. The paint deposit is obtained by immersing the parts in a water-soluble binder as soon as an electric field is applied.
