1.1.1 Electrochemical half-reaction

Modern electrochemical techniques make it possible to study the mechanism of electron transfer involving the two species Ox (oxidizing) and Red (reducing) (assumed to be soluble) belonging to an Ox/Red redox couple in contact with an electrode. In what follows, it is assumed that the electrode is flat and that the electrochemical half-reaction is simply written :

Ox+ne=Red
