First approach to immersion

If, in the course of a conversation, you use the word "emotion", your correspondent is unlikely to ask you about the meaning of this word. If, on the other hand, you use the word "pervasiveness", chances are they'll ask you what you think it means. The author was always surprised to find that, whatever the context, the word "immersion", like the word "emotion", was not the subject of any questions about its meaning or definition.
