4. Conclusion
This very brief overview of steel casting has shown the extreme diversity of shapes, material qualities and applications to be found in this sector. The few photographs attached to this document (figure 8 ) give an idea of the complexity of the geometries and part sizes that can be obtained using this process, and are intended to stimulate the reader's imagination towards new applications. Unlike most other cast materials, cast steel is a strong, ductile and reliable material whose mechanical and physico-chemical characteristics can be adapted almost ad infinitum by optimizing chemical composition and heat treatment conditions.
