4. New continuous casting processes
In general terms, these new processes aim to reduce the number of intermediate operations between the semi-finished product from continuous casting and the finished product, by reducing the thickness of the semi-finished product and/or by combining the continuous casting machine and the rolling mill. A distinction must be made between flat products (thin slabs) and long products.
