6. Conclusions
Corrosion of metallic materials in CSP plants remains one of the most critical challenges for the long-term reliability of these facilities, particularly in advanced third-generation plants operating at higher temperatures using molten salts as heat transfer and storage media.
The joint optimization of the composition of heat transfer fluids and alloy design is essential to enhance corrosion resistance in high-temperature conditions. The formation of dense protective oxide layers remains one of the most effective mechanisms to prevent corrosive penetration, although their stability strongly depends on both material and salt composition.
