3. Knitted fabrics with two separate and joined layers

These knitted fabricss can be produced from both weft and warp knitting processes.

3.1 Straight tubes and multi-tubes

Circular machines, whether warp or weft knitting machines, can only produce a single tube. Flat knitting machines are needed to produce several tubes simultaneously. The principle of producing a tube or several tubes connected by one of their bases consists in knitting two separate faces, each produced by a needle bed, and connecting them together at the sides (figure 13 ).
