5. How do you test for mutations?
Genotoxicity tests are used to screen for possible carcinogenic potential (short-term carcinogenesis tests).
Most carcinogens identified in humans have mutagenic properties in one or more experimental tests.
5.1 What are genotoxicity tests?
Numerous genotoxicity tests are available.
The most common tests encountered in chemical toxicology dossiers are :
gene mutation tests, including: a) in vitro tests on bacteria, such as the Ames test; b) in vitro tests on mammalian cells;
