6. How can you guarantee the integrity of your MSDS shipments?
Guaranteeing the integrity of an electronic document means proving that it is what it claims to be, i.e. that it has not been altered or modified in any way.
It's extremely important, in the event of legal disputes, to be able to prove that the MSDS did indeed indicate a physico-chemical characteristic and that it has not been modified.
Mathematicians have created a powerful algorithm, reputed to be inviolable, which makes it possible, figuratively speaking, to place seals on an electronic file to guarantee its integrity. Computer scientists generally use the terms condensate, hash or fingerprint for this operation. Numerous hash function generators are available on the market; MD5, for example, is a commonly used algorithm.
