AUTHOR

 INTRODUCTION

The letter of intent to set up the EFQM Foundation was signed on September 15, 1988 by the heads of 14 major companies, in the presence of Jacques Delors, President of the European Commission. A year later, the organization was officially founded, with the aim of promoting "total quality" management in Western Europe, in order to create a competitive advantage in the marketplace.

The acronym "EFQM" stands for :

  • the foundation created in October 1989, responsible for developing EFQM within companies, and whose general policy (mission, vision, objectives) is based on eight fundamental concepts;

  • the "excellence model: framework" for companies ;

  • the RADAR evaluation method (short for Results, Approaches, Deploy and Assess & Refine ). For the quality managers or facilitators for whom this sheet is intended, the aims of internal control may seem similar to those of a quality approach or a quality management system.
