Who calibrates equipment?

Metrological activities can be carried out in-house by the metrologist or by any other authorized person.

For technical and/or financial reasons, metrological activities are generally outsourced. The laboratory must ensure the competence of the subcontractor. It is advisable to formalize metrological expectations in a contract, specifying calibration range, calibration points, calibration document format and calibration uncertainty (obligation of means for the subcontractor).

Is laboratory glassware a measuring instrument?

Not all laboratory glassware counts as measuring instruments. Only glassware where the accuracy of the dispensed volume has an influence on the test result is to be taken into account. It is hardly conceivable to check all the glassware concerned....
