Various methods and tools applied to process sequences help to make them more reliable and robust:

  • during the design and development phases of mass-produced goods and services;

  • during process design and development, by defining robust operating conditions that are less or not at all prone to maladjustment;

  • in developing and making available production methods to avoid or limit incidents on the production tool, reduce measurement instrument drifts and enable early detection of process drifts to take action before operational results deteriorate;

  • in the operational phase, to reduce all causes of variability and train all those involved in the process;
