The previous step enabled you to collect requests for product or service modifications from your customers, users or internal stakeholders.
The quality of the request's wording is essential for a good understanding of its context and content. If it's not sufficiently explicit, we'll have to come back to the requester, hence the importance of identifying the source of the request.
The first analysis will enable you to validate the interest of accepting the modification request for a product, service or project.
We only deal here with internal or external requests that call for a change in the definition, and therefore the design, of a product, service or project. Often, several departments within the company may be affected by a modification, and therefore need to be consulted before a decision is taken.
