6. What tools are available?

  • The 5S principles of workstation organization are based on the initials of five Japanese words ( Seiri: to clear; Seiton: to tidy; Seiso: to maintain on a daily basis; Seiketsu: to standardize; Shitsuke: rigorous, sustainable).

  • Kaizen: continuous improvement or the PDCA principle (Plan Do Check ACT) Deming wheel.

  • UAP organization: this is a response to fluctuating customer demands, with different products or families. All the necessary resources are located in this autonomous unit, with its own indicators, visual management principles, etc. This unit can also be considered as a smaller-scale factory.
