2. Determine the nature of the study
Before initiating a risk assessment, a key question arises: Is the study qualitative or quantitative in nature?
Whether qualitative or quantitative, a risk assessment must follow the three steps of the public health risk assessment process, namely:
characterize the site;
identify hazards and dose-response relationships;
assess exposure.
2.1 Case #1: You do not have sufficient data, or emissions are zero
The risk assessment will be qualitative since it will not result in a risk calculation.
