1. Identify IPPC installations in France
Under the IPPC Directive, operators of the industrial facilities concerned must have a permit issued by the competent national authorities. Permits are issued on the basis of an integrated approach, best available techniques and flexibility. The annex to the IPPC Directive sets out the activities and thresholds covered by the provisions on integrated pollution prevention and control.
The IPPC Directive will be repealed on January 7, 2014 by the new Directive 2010/75/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of November 24, 2010 on industrial emissions (the so-called "IED Directive"), which recasts and merges the IPPC Directive and six sectoral directives on industrial emissions into a single directive, with the aim of simplifying legislation and reinforcing best available techniques ("BAT").
