The departmental prefect (police prefect in Paris) is the competent authority to intervene in the fight against noise pollution generated or likely to be generated by environmentally classified facilities.

In carrying out its duties, the prefectoral authority is assisted by environmental inspectors, in charge of monitoring ICPEs and noting any infringements. To find out more, visit
