What are the criteria for choosing a database?
Quantifying ignition probabilities using a database is only relevant if the database used is representative of the case studied. To choose the right database, you need to :
make sure the flammable product is covered by the bank;
ensure that the influential parameters (ignition source density, prevention measures, etc.) specified in the database are verified for the case studied. For example, the same database may report different ignition probabilities depending on the density of ignition sources identified in the leak environment. Care must therefore be taken to mention these parameters whenever they are specified by the database.
