6.1 Don't neglect to inform the local mayor of an incident or accident

By law, you are not obliged to inform the local mayor of an accident or incident at your facility. However, it may be advisable to make an appointment to do so. If he or she is properly informed by you of the circumstances and causes of the accident or incident, as well as the measures taken to prevent a recurrence, he or she can help to resolve a conflict and thus the prospect of litigation.
