3. Identify PPRN constraints

The purpose of a PPRN is to improve knowledge of natural hazards and their consequences. It provides information to residents exposed to these risks and to developers.

Your plant may be located in a risk zone identified by the PPRN. There are two types of zones:

  • Areas exposed to natural hazards;

  • areas that are not directly exposed to risks, but where construction, development or operation could aggravate risks or cause new ones.

In these zones, the PPRN may provide for :

  • a ban on new developments, constructions and operations ;

  • the obligation to comply with special requirements for the construction, use or operation of these developments, constructions or operations...
