French legislation on polluted sites and soils is fairly recent, and is mainly covered by Code de l’environnement . However, there is no legal text dealing exclusively with polluted sites and soils. The regulatory and legislative work really began and developed rapidly in the 90s, notably through the evolution of regulations on classified installations for the environment (ICPE) and waste management.
