Don't underestimate the differences in cultural practices between countries speaking the "same" language (UK/USA or France/Quebec, for example).
Don't just rely on received ideas or guides, get straight to the point and ask your interviewees: "What do you include in this expression? What do you exclude? What would you say in English? Etc."
