5. Carry out the project and monitor its progress
5.1 Task completion
The mechanical, electrical and software design teams will each carry out the tasks, individually respecting the technical scope of the tasks and the associated milestones. Teams are expected to report regularly to the project manager on the progress of tasks, and on technical and human difficulties encountered. Successful completion of tasks depends on the human and empathetic dimension of the people involved. As mechatronics involves many interface points between technologies, the project manager will be responsible for ensuring ongoing links between the design teams. Compared with a conventional design project, the project manager's nodal function is crucial to the successful completion of tasks.
