1. Is inert gas shielded welding really for you?

Oxidation is still considered a harmful aging process in high-tech fields such as aeronautics and aerospace. The remedy is to replace the air with an inert gas, usually nitrogen.

Today, however, inert gas protection of thermoplastic welds is reserved for fluoroplastics, where oxidation during welding is unacceptable.

It wasn't until 2013 that two suppliers launched complete hot nitrogen welding systems for industry.

You may be concerned by this technique if you have :

  • 3D parts and difficulties in welding your materials;

  • a continuous welding process and your oxidizing materials ;

  • semi-crystalline materials (PA, PEEK, etc.) and the insurmountable difficulties involved in assembling them;

  • ...
