It's important that this estimation can be carried out calmly, the aim being to obtain realistic estimates that are neither pessimistic nor optimistic. Adjustments are made as the project progresses, through iterations. Tasks on the critical path(s) of the project should be your main concern, as any drift will have a direct impact on the project completion date.
