6. Mandatory function search methods

6.1 Informal, spontaneous search

Study a product or a product idea by taking it apart, observing it, imagining the user and how it's used.

Then write down all the functions.

This method requires a good knowledge of the product or product idea, but is accessible to all.

The group may be asked to work either with the existing physical product, or on a product to be designed, but avoid any further information so as to start by working on the broadest possible imagination.

Don't set yourself any strict frameworks, to avoid being blocked by the use of a particular method or other limitations and constraints.
