INTRODUCTION
How do you reconcile a specific design for a mass-produced object with industrial and economic realities?
We often tend to think of the designer's job as imagining, from a blank sheet of paper, the most elegant and "trendy" aesthetic for a product.
However, the designer is not an artist free to create, since he or she works for a product whose functions and manufacture are clearly identified according to very Cartesian criteria.
Collaboration and exchange between the designer and the manufacturing and product specialists is fundamental to ensuring that the object is shaped in line with the style desired by the designer and validated by marketing, and that it can be manufactured at the best possible cost to satisfy the end-user.
This fact sheet will help you :
how to choose an industrial designer ;
what the designer needs in order to work with full knowledge of the facts;
how a product design study is carried out, and what are the essential points addressed by the designer.
