4.1 What can working with an ergonomist do for you?

If consulted in good time, the ergonomist can help you improve your design project by introducing :

• an analysis of the diversity of potential users and its likely evolution over time;

• a reference to the diversity of situations of use, beyond normal operating situations;

• terms and language used by users in the course of the activities concerned, suggestions for possible metaphors;

• specific objectives in terms of ease of use or cost for users;

• ergonomic performance criteria for system acceptability (for example, a product must be usable after less than...
