Starting a collaborative tool deployment project is first and foremost a battle against preconceived ideas:

  • even the most intuitive of tools is not enough to make sharing natural;

  • the younger generations, known as Generation Y, are not the spearhead of a rollout;

  • Knowing how to use social networks in one's private life does not guarantee their use in the workplace;

  • sharing and co-writing requires legitimacy and sufficient knowledge of the corporate culture;

  • A collaborative platform or corporate social network needs a facilitator rather than a moderator; indeed, in a professional context, it's often more important to encourage sharing than to moderate discussions.
