4. What is the control fan?

The notion of span of control or subordination represents the number of employees under a manager's direct responsibility that he or she can reasonably direct effectively.

In complex organizations and at high hierarchical levels, it is commonly recommended to limit the span of control to six or seven employees, in order to maintain a certain degree of supervisory proximity. In fact, the higher the manager's level, the more ill-structured the problems to be solved, and the smaller the team to be supervised.

It's vital that every employee knows and understands the organization in place or the changes desired by management. To achieve this, clear communication is needed, with explanations of the various interlocking organization charts, and the most exhaustive possible definition of each person's roles and responsibilities.
