What is the Court of Justice of the European Union?
The Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU), which replaced the Court of Justice of the European Communities (ECJ), ensures that European Union law is applied and interpreted uniformly. It monitors the legality of acts of the European Union's institutions, and rules on member states' compliance with their treaty obligations. It also interprets EU law (notably public procurement law) at the request of national courts.
